“Return from the Belarusian border of 511 breeding pigs transported from UK(GB) across the EU territory. Transports (4 cars) were not correctly advised in TRACES system by generating INTRA notifications with the valid status. Additionally, the animals were mislabeled (inconsistencies in identification). The carrier twice tried to cross the Belarusian border, despite the fact that the consignments did not meet the export requirements and the decision to return the animals was took by the official veterinarian. The consignments were turned back from the border by the Belarusian veterinary services due to numerous errors in the veterinary certificates and the incompatibility of the certificates with the permit for import into Belarus. As a result of the long journey and the wait at the Belarusian border, the animal welfare conditions during transport were violated”, skriver EU-kommssionen i larmet.
